Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 1 John 2:4-5

INSIGHT:

The apostle John gives a word of encouragement today. Not an encouragement to sin because provision for forgiveness is available, but he is raising awareness about the efficacity of the blood of Jesus if we do sin. Jesus paid it all. He paid for the sins of all humanity. What characterizes the Christian now is the fear of the Lord, keeping his commandments. The point is simple; the more we know God—if at all—the more we will keep his commandments. Show me a Christian who does not compromise the truth, who is serious about obeying the word of God and I will show you one in whom the love of God abides and is perfected. It is not just the talk that matters but we must also join to that the walk.
