Bible Reading/Text

Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”‘ Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”–and that he had said these things to her. John 20:17-18

INSIGHT:

The charge that Jesus gave Mary to go and tell His brothers about the resurrection is the same mandate he gives us today. Like the disciples at this very moment, many around us are left in confusion, wondering about the reality of God and what tomorrow holds for them. Mary stood with tears in her eyes until Jesus appeared to her and she shouted “I have seen the Lord.” Then her countenance must have changed, and she must have been fill of awe and hope. Like Mary, we too must be filled with excitement and eager to proclaim loudly that we too have seen the Lord; that He has changed our lives. We may have difficulties like everyone else, but we are not alone in them. The message of the Gospel did not change since that time. Jesus is alive and still saves.
