The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! … And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.” John 1: 29-34
When John baptized Jesus, something miraculous happened. The Holy Spirit came upon Him in the form of a dove and the Father’s approval was confirmed through an audible voice that the disciples around could hear. Today, we may not hear audibly that same voice of the Father or see a dove coming down but the Holy Spirit testifies to our spirit that Jesus is still the Son of God. We owe Him the same reverence that John showed Him. As Christians, the best way to bear witness is to live a life that conforms to the image of Christ wherever we go and in whatever we do. Jesus is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. A Christian walk without the fullness of the Holy Spirit cannot afford any victory or breakthrough. Like Jesus, you and I can resist all the temptations of the enemy when we yield completely to the Holy Spirit.
Lorsque Jean a baptisé Jésus, quelque chose de miraculeux s’est produit. Le Saint-Esprit est descendu sur lui sous la forme d’une colombe et l’approbation du Père a été confirmée par une voix audible que les disciples autour pouvaient entendre. Aujourd’hui, nous pouvons ne pas entendre audiblement cette même voix du Père ou voir une colombe descendre, mais le Saint-Esprit témoigne à notre esprit que Jésus est toujours le Fils de Dieu. Nous lui devons la même reverence que Jean lui a témoigné. En tant que chrétiens, la meilleure façon de témoigner est de vivre une vie conforme à l’image de Christ partout où nous allons et dans tout ce que nous faisons. Jésus est Celui qui baptise du Saint-Esprit. Une marche chrétienne sans la plénitude du Saint-Esprit ne peut se permettre aucune victoire ou percée. Comme Jésus, vous et moi pouvons résister à toutes les tentations de l’ennemi lorsque nous nous soumettons complètement au Saint-Esprit.
